Vintage and Thrift: Red Leather Skirt

 

Hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving Day.  The world may not be perfect but there is so much to be thankful for. Always remember that! For gobble gobble day, I was thrifted from head to toe.

I snagged this sweater for $1.75 at Park Avenue Thrift Outlet in Woodstock, Georgia while thrifting with my thriftsister Lisa Michalski.

I love this cape! Union Label Made and Houndstooth pattern cape is such a classic style.   I scored this at ICE Atlanta's Holiday Shopping Extravaganza from Ivory, owner of Forgotten Feather Vintage, a resale vintage and resale boutique in Atlanta.

Getting to Holiday ICE is so easy

 

 You can take MARTA or drive. The GA Freight Depot is on MLK Jr Dr but WAAAAAAAAY back from the street. In between Pryor Street and Central Ave, look for the old Coca-Cola museum (there is nothing in that building now).

 

Public Transportation:

You can take MARTA to the Five Points Station or the Georgia State Station. We are just a few blocks from each station.

From Five Points Station: exit on the Peachtree St. side and turn right. Turn left on MLK Jr Dr. The GA Freight Depot is on your left just past Pryor St.

From Georgia State: turn left on Piedmont Ave and right on MLK Jr Dr. The GA Freight Depot is on your right just past Central Ave.

Parking:

There are thousands of parking spaces in downtown Atlanta. We suggest the Underground Atlanta parking decks. These decks are just a block away on MLK Jr Dr. They offer a flat rate of $3/day on the weekend. They accept cash and card for payment.

Cooler weather is here and I'm loving it. Cold weather in Atlanta is not loved by many living here but I totally enjoy it.  Change is good!  Well, cold weather means time to bust out the fancy coats.  My sister in vintage, Helen Nurse owner of Tracy Chambers Vintage in Brooklyn introduced her winter coat catalog.  I was having a "dancing in the street' moment.  I need to get to Brooklyn as soon as possible to get my hands on some of these masterpieces.  Tracy Chambers Vintage does it again! Check out these fabulous vintage inspired outerwear worn by Helen.

About this Sunday outfit....I attended a fashion swap hosted by my friend Cindy, founder of Haitian Fashionistas last week. Cindy invited me to conduct a styling session based on my personal style.  I enjoyed the experience. It was so much fun! I scored this blazer from the swap. Feels great to add treasures to your closet free of charge. 

I have a strong liking for the kelly green color lately.  This beautiful pleated skirt is from one of my favorites, Fann's Closet, a resale boutique.

Happy November again! It's Tuesday, November 4, 2014. The big day to get out and vote! Just wanted to started out with that friendly reminder.

It's a little nippy in Atlanta, Georgia but I'm not complaining at all. I prefer cooler weather temperatures. I know, it's uncommon coming from a girl from the Caribbean but change of season is always good. I look at it as an opportunity for growth and new beginnings.
