Vintage and Thrift: Refashion Tip from M.Nicole - Dress Refashioned to a Blouse

Big shout out to Monique N. Dickinson (a/k/a The Fashion Surgeon) of Donnie Nicole for this awesome refashion tip. I recently joined in on Monique's repurposing your closet segment  on Google Hangout.  I emailed one of my garments that I love but no longer fits right for a repurposing idea from the fashion surgeon herself.   I loved her tip.  It worked and I love it! As you will see in photos below, I submitted this vibrant color block shift dress to Monique.   I've had the dress in the my closet for three years.  I was going to donate it to my neighborhood Goodwill but Monique saved it!  See below and check out how my dress is now a beautiful blouse. Thanks Monique!

Vintage and Thrift: Sequin Tube Top Red Blazer Handmade Clutch from Haiti

The weekend is over already.  Although the weekends tend to be short, I always have an amazing weekend.  It's always a short but sweet weekend for me.  I celebrated one of my good friend's 40th birthday this weekend.   We had so much fun.  I enjoy any outing where women can just let go and have a great time. I wore one of my favorite fitting blazers and a touch of sequins.  The clutch is special to me because it was gifted by my husband. It was my gift from his trip to Haiti.

Vintage and Thrift: Leather Jacket Vintage Dress

Yes, it is cold outside but we can still look cute during the cold weather. Spring is just around the corner. That's the positive way of looking at the recent chilly weather we've been getting. Cold weather won't stop me from wearing a dress, vintage dress that is. 

I've had the Armani Exchange Leather Jacket for 8 years and I still love it.

Vintage and Thrift: Mod Style Vintage

Smyrna Thrift Store has won my heart after scoring this Lane Bryant dress for $5.95.   This dress was a sample piece because the inside lining was incomplete plus the tag had sample written on it.  I had to do some minor adjustments which didn't cost me a dime.  I learned a few thing or two from watching my Mom as a little girl  as she made dresses. After doing some research, I could not find this dress or a similar piece by Lane Bryant online to determine the age or the retail price of the dress.  I couldn't find much information but what I do know is that I adore the dress! The color and style is truly vintage inspired.

Vintage and Thrift: Jones of New York Sweater -Thrifty Girls Rock

Cold day in Atlanta. We had snow warnings and we were extra prepared this time around. Although the snow storm predicted did not take place, I am always happy to safe than sorry.  Last year I spent nine hours on the road due to the inclement weather.  Thank goodness it was safe and clear and just cold and rainy. 

 

Sweaters are usually the last item I look for when thrifting on my own or shopping a resale shop.  The shop my closet in 2015 is still in full effect.  I purchased this Jones of New York brand sweater from Twin Spirit also known as Thrifty Girls Rock almost two years ago at a shopping event. The color is fun and reminds me of life saver candy.  The sweater is a life saver.  It's my go to sweater for a casual day.
